On December 4th, the Director of theInternational Energy Agency, Fatih Birol, said at the COP28 to the UnitedNations Framework Convention on Climate Change in China that China has maderemarkable achievements in the development of clean energy such as solar andwind energy and electric vehicle industries, and is "the champion in thefield of clean energy."

At the sideline meeting titled"Circular Economy Helps China Practice Carbon Reduction", Birolpointed out that countries should recognize that China has made manysignificant achievements in the field of clean energy. In addition, China'simportant contribution is also reflected in reducing the market prices of cleanenergy equipment, which is helpful for the development of clean energy in othercountries around the world.

According to the 2023 Annual Report onChina's Policies and Actions to Address Climate Change released by the ChineseMinistry of Ecology and Environment in October, as of the end of 2022, theproportion of non-fossil energy consumption in China has reached 17.5%, and thetotal installed capacity of renewable energy has reached 1.213 billionkilowatts. As of the end of June this year, the total number of new energyvehicles in China reached 16.2 million.

At the United Nations Climate Conferenceheld in Dubai, the development of green and clean energy was a topic ofwidespread concern for representatives from various countries. The role ofclean energy in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and addressing climate changehas been widely recognized.

According to the IEO2023 released by theInternational Energy Agency at the end of October, the world energy system willundergo significant changes by 2030, with renewable energy accounting fornearly 50% of the global electricity structure.

At the time of the release of this report(IEO2023), Birol called on governments, businesses, and investors around theworld to support the transition to clean energy, as it can bring "newindustrial and employment opportunities, stronger energy security, cleaner air,more inclusive energy supply, and a safer climate.".
