According to news from the National Energy Administration on May 23, the National Energy Administration recently held a national renewable energy development and construction dispatch video conference. The dispatch meeting proposed that all efforts will be made to promote the construction of three batches of large-scale wind power and photovoltaic bases to ensure that the projects are completed as soon as possible and put into production on schedule. The meeting also stated that monthly scheduling and weekly monitoring should be continued to ensure project progress.

The dispatch meeting stated that the development momentum of renewable energy in the first quarter of this year was good, the scale of installed capacity continued to expand, and power generation increased steadily. From January to March, the country's newly installed renewable energy capacity was 63.76 million kilowatts, accounting for 91.8% of the country's newly installed power generation capacity, a year-on-year increase of 34.5%; the country's renewable energy power generation capacity was 690.3 billion kilowatt hours, accounting for 30.9% of the country's power generation capacity. A year-on-year increase of 16.1%. At the same time, the utilization rate of wind power and photovoltaic power generation in some areas has declined, source-grid coordination is insufficient, and the construction of large-scale wind power and photovoltaic base projects is unbalanced. Data from the National Energy Administration shows that in the first quarter of 2024, 45.74 million kilowatts of photovoltaics were added to the grid nationwide, a year-on-year increase of 36%, including 21.93 million kilowatts of centralized photovoltaics and 23.80 million kilowatts of distributed photovoltaics. As of the end of March 2024, the country's cumulative installed photovoltaic power generation capacity reached 659 million kilowatts, including 379 million kilowatts of centralized photovoltaics and 280 million kilowatts of distributed photovoltaics. In the first quarter of 2024, the national photovoltaic power generation capacity was 161.8 billion kilowatt-hours, a year-on-year increase of 42%.

In terms of wind power, in the first quarter of 2024, the new grid-connected capacity of wind power nationwide was 15.5 million kilowatts, including 14.81 million kilowatts of onshore wind power and 690,000 kilowatts of offshore wind power. As of the end of March 2024, the country's cumulative wind power grid-connected capacity reached 457 million kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 22%, of which onshore wind power was 419 million kilowatts and offshore wind power was 38.03 million kilowatts. In the first quarter of 2024, the national wind power generation capacity was 263.6 billion kilowatt-hours, a year-on-year increase of 16%.
