India PV installed capacity reached 100GW
发布时间:2025-2-14   文章来源:

As of January 31, 2025, India's total installed PV capacity is 100.33GW, and 84.10GW is under construction and another 47.49GW is under tender.

This achievement marks a significant step towards achieving the Indian government's previously ambitious target of 500GW of non-fossil fuel energy capacity by 2030.

The country's hybrid and all-weather (RTC) renewable energy projects are also advancing rapidly, with 64.67GW being implemented and tendered, bringing the total number of solar and hybrid projects to 296.59GW.

Prahradh Joshi, Minister of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), said: "India's energy development over the past decade has been historic and exciting. Initiatives such as solar panels, solar parks and rooftop solar projects have made a revolutionary difference. As a result, India has now successfully achieved its target of 100GW of solar power generation. In the field of green energy, India has not only achieved self-reliance, but also shown the world a new path."

The minister added that Prime Minister SuryaGharMuftBijliYojana's plan is making rooftop solar a household reality and changing the sustainable energy landscape to provide clean energy to households.

Over the past decade, the capacity of the solar power industry in India has grown by 3,450 percent, from 2.82GW in 2014 to 100GW in 2025.

In 2024, India's rooftop solar industry achieved significant growth, with 4.59GW of new installed capacity, an increase of 53% over 2023. The main driver of this growth is the free electricity scheme launched by the Indian Government in 2024 (i.e. PMSuryaGhar: MuftBijliYojana Subsidy Scheme of Rs. 30,000 per kW up to 2 kW; Subsidy of Rs. 18,000 per kW at 2 kw-3 kW; Rs 78,000 per kW above 3 kW), and the current number of rooftop solar installations is close to 900,000.

India has also made significant strides in solar manufacturing. In 2014, the country's solar module production capacity was only 2GW. Over the past decade, this capacity has surged to 60GW by 2024. With continued policy support, India is on track to achieve 100GW of solar module capacity by 2030.
