H.e. Saed Al-Tayer, Deputy Chairman of Dubai's Supreme Energy Council, delivers a speech at the 49th Middle East Energy Show on April 7, 2025.
H.e. Saed Al-Tayer said, "The energy transition is the top priority for the development of the world today. We are taking more solid steps toward clean energy. It is necessary to promote the development of the region by accelerating the energy transition. Achieving net zero emissions by mid-century in a balance between sustainability, environmental protection and energy security."
According to H.E. Saed Al-Tayer, "Today, the UAE has 6 GW of renewable energy and 5.6 GW of nuclear energy. Our goal is to reach 20 GW of green energy by 2030. To achieve this, we are building large-scale renewable energy projects in ABU Dhabi and Dubai, including an integrated energy company, terminal, leading energy project and solar power station, which is the largest single solar power plant in the world and will make Dubai one of the most clean energy efficient regions in the world once it is operational."
"We are guided by our Energy Strategy 2050, which expresses our solemn commitment to the energy transition and climate action. Increase the share of clean energy in total energy to 30% by 2030. By 2030, this will increase investment by €54 billion to a cumulative €200 billion and achieve the lowest CO2 emissions in Asia. In addition, we have launched the National Hydrogen Strategy, which is a two-year strategy. Our commitment to transformation is not limited to ourselves, the UAE is also a major supporter of energy transmission and energy development in other countries. ABU Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar) is one of the world's fastest growing renewable energy companies and a leader in green hydrogen, having developed projects in more than 40 countries. Across six continents, the total project capacity is more than 31 GW."
H.e. Saed Al-Tayer said, "The world is changing for the better. But we still need to accelerate our efforts to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement and avert climate catastrophe. We believe that innovation and collaboration are key tools to achieve a shared vision. The UAE will continue to promote, develop policies, promote international cooperation and implement transformational projects to achieve our vision."
