In recent years, intensified competition in the photovoltaic (PV) industry has made technological innovation and cost reduction the main themes of development. Perovskite solar cells, with advantages such as high photoelectric conversion efficiency, tunable bandgap, and significant cost-reduction potential, are regarded as a key technological pathway to break through the efficiency limitations of traditional PV. As multiple companies continue to invest in the perovskite field, the industrialization of perovskite cells is expected to accelerate.

Industry experts indicate that perovskite tandem cells represent a crucial path for future mass-produced PV cells to surpass efficiency limits. Meanwhile, national policies supporting the industry's development have brought perovskite technology closer to commercialization.

According to reports, the theoretical efficiency limits for TOPCon, HJT, and IBC cells are 28.7%, 28.5%, and 29.1% respectively, with limited room for further improvement. In contrast, single-junction perovskite cells have a theoretical efficiency limit of 33%, while perovskite tandem cells could potentially exceed 40%.

Certified by the U.S. National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), a domestically developed large-area (260.9 cm²) silicon-perovskite tandem solar cell has achieved a conversion efficiency of 33%, setting a new global record for large-area tandem cell efficiency. Perovskite-silicon tandem cell technology is expected to become mainstream, with projected conversion efficiency 4 percentage points higher than current crystalline silicon cells.

While some industry experts note that perovskite cell mass production still faces challenges - including stability issues, large-area fabrication, cycle life, and cost reduction pathways - the consensus remains that "perovskite is the future." Listed PV companies, leveraging capital, technology, and supply chain advantages, are accelerating industrialization through various approaches.

Experts emphasize that single-junction perovskite cells lack competitiveness due to unresolved stability issues. The greatest potential lies in integrating perovskite with silicon cells, as tandem structures combine efficiency and cost advantages, representing the ultimate technology for silicon cells within the next five years. Perovskite-silicon tandem modules offer 50% higher theoretical efficiency and 20% lower costs than conventional modules. Conservative estimates suggest 1GW of such modules could generate at least 2 billion yuan in additional revenue over their lifecycle.
